ESI Virtual Performance Solution (VPS) helps improve the efficiency of your Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) workflows during product development by reducing the number of real prototypes, shortening design cycles and cutting development costs.
Read here, how recently ESI Virtual Performance Solution helped ŠKODA score 5 star rating from Euro.
VPS Single Core Model
Thanks to the VPS single core-model, you can:
- Run all load cases on a single cluster
- Reduce the time spent on the synchronization of models between domains
- Perform concurrent engineering, and perform the right trade-off between performances
At Skoda Auto, we have been using Virtual Performance Solution (VPS) for several years. Thanks to VPS, we may be more efficient using the same core model for crash, safety and linear statics. The single core model approach is already used for bonnet design and allows us to make better decisions on design changes in a reduced time cycle. We can benefit from this approach even more, which will allow us to introduce advanced chaining analysis such as spring back after crash loads.

Using a single core model allows us to perform faster design changes giving us a competitive advantage. Futhermore, the calculation with the Implicit module is two times faster and uses less memory.

VPS and High Performance Computing
Continuous improvement in partnership with hardware vendors makes VPS best in class in terms of solver quality, scalability and robustness. This was demonstrated in 2014 when VPS received the HPCwire Readers’ & Editors’ Choice Award for Best use of HPC in Automotive.
This project was a success essentially due to the close collaboration between Renault and ESI. It brought to light the outputs and benefits linked to large size models for crashes. We were able to handle the challenges tied to the model’s creation and its use within an intensive context, such as optimization.

VPS Modularity for Ease of Use
Virtual Performance Solution (VPS) allows the user to easily define the virtual prototype as it is in the Product Document Management (PDM) world. This hierarchical structure simplifies the management of design iterations and collaboration within engineering teams. Modularity speeds up the initial model setup and leads to important cost saving for all design iteration and model revisions.
