Fast Multipole methods (FMM) is a new way to solve large BEM models. Its fast and uses less memory than traditional BEM. With this method you can solve BEM models of millions of DOFs. It uses “Multipole” approximation of interaction of “distant particles” and “Iterative multilevel solution” for solving the system of equations
Applications of Fast Multipole methods
- Solving large detailed BEM Models with millions of DOFs
- Investigate diffraction/shadowing effects
- Updating the “loads” in a existing SEA model DOFs
- Reduce the CPU time and increase accuracy
